Back in Apr 02 2018: You can now donate to charity by asking Amazon’s Alexa to send money
Amazon's virtual assistant Alexa can now make charitable donations on your behalf. The new feature called Alexa Donations allows users to simply ask Alexa to donate a specified amount to a supported charity of their choice. Currently, users can choose from 48 charities and nonprofits, with the list expected to expand.
Over a million people have already used Amazon Pay to donate to charities. This initiative follows Amazon's previous collaboration with Give Back Box, which allowed users to reuse Amazon boxes for shipping donations to charities.
Fast forward to Jan 09 2024: Amazon’s Alexa gets new generative AI-powered experiences
Amazon has announced three developers delivering new generative AI-powered Alexa experiences. Character.AI allows users to have real-time conversations with different personas, Splash lets users create songs using their voice, and Volley offers a modern version of the "20 Questions" game.
These experiences are available in the Amazon Alexa Skill Store. Amazon has been making AI-related enhancements to Alexa, including a new generative AI model and a more natural-sounding voice.
How is Amazon incorporating generative AI into Alexa and what new experiences can users expect as a result?
