Fast forward to Aug 04 2023: Why Apple partnering with Pixar, Nvidia to create 3D videos is a big deal
Apple has partnered with Pixar, Adobe, Autodesk, and Nvidia to establish a standard for creating 3D content. This partnership, called the Alliance for OpenUSD, aims to develop standards for optimizing 3D content for any mixed-reality device.
By promoting greater interoperability of 3D tools and data, the alliance will enable developers and content creators to work on large-scale 3D projects and build a wider range of 3D-enabled products and services. Apple's Vision Pro mixed-reality headset, set to be released next year, will benefit from this collaboration, as applications made for VisionOS rely on OpenUSD technology.
How can the Alliance for OpenUSD partnership foster innovation in the creation of 3D content for mixed-reality devices?
