Nike will be launching its first self-lacing basketball shoes, which can be adjusted using a smartphone. Unlike the previous version of self-lacing shoes, which required physical power buttons to lace up, these shoes will have wireless connectivity. In addition, the upcoming sneakers are expected to be priced at $350, much lower than the original self-lacing shoes priced at $720. Stay tuned for more information on Nike's event tomorrow.

Nike has made a comeback in the "super shoe" battle after Kenyan runner Kelvin Kiptum shattered Eliud Kipchoge's world marathon record using Nike's latest prototype of carbon-plated trainers. Kiptum finished the Chicago marathon in 2 hours, 0 minutes, 35 seconds, beating Kipchoge's previous record by over 30 seconds.

This comes just two weeks after Tigist Assefa set a new women's record wearing Adidas' super-light Adizero Adios Pro Evo 1 shoes. Nike's prototype shoe, worn by Kiptum and Sifan Hassan, is awaiting an official release and is seen as the next version of the Air Zoom Alphafly NEXT% 2 shoe.

What role do carbon-plated trainers play in the ongoing competition to break world marathon records?
